One Frame, 24 Seasonal Designs: Our eufyMake E1 Interchangeable Wall Sign

Finished interchangeable rectangle wall sign with seasonal printed artwork

Kimberly VanHuizen |

We didn't want to make another printer-test video. We wanted to find out whether a new piece of equipment could help us create an actual product we'd want to sell.

So we took the eufyMake E1 roll-to-film attachment, a laser-cut wood frame, and some canvas, and turned them into something we're pretty excited about: one interchangeable wall sign with 24 seasonal designs.

The fun part? The frame stays. The artwork changes. And instead of starting over with a new sign every holiday, you simply slide in a different insert.

We Started with a Different Question

We've used the eufyMake E1 on plenty of projects. This time, with the roll attachment in hand, we weren't interested in printing random things just to prove that the printer worked. We wanted to know: What could we make with it that we couldn't easily offer before?

We've sold interchangeable signs for years, so we already knew people liked the idea of buying the main piece once and collecting seasonal pieces over time. Why couldn't we do that with full-color printed wall art?

That was the starting point for our new rectangle frame and a whole collection of seasonal inserts.

Watch Us Make It

In the video, we're showing the real project, the roll attachment, the long canvas print, and how the finished inserts work in the laser-cut frame.

The Frame: Make It Once, Use It All Year

The laser-cut frame is the simple part of the idea, and that's on purpose. It uses a layered construction with a channel that lets a flat printed panel slide in from the side. No magnets to line up, no screws to remove when you change seasons, and no rebuilding the whole sign every time.

We can hang it on the wall and change it from fall to Christmas to winter in seconds. For us, that ease of swapping is what makes the idea work.

The Real Experiment: Printing More Than Four Feet of Canvas

This is where the eufyMake E1 roll-to-film attachment changed the project. Rather than printing one short section, stopping, and loading the next, we placed two complete insert designs into one continuous print run. That's more than 48 inches of full-color artwork moving through a desktop printer.

For this project we used white canvas and printed in CMYK, without a separate white-ink layer. Our two-insert print took about 45 minutes using the settings shown in the video. That's our production example, not a guaranteed print time for every machine or artwork file.

Three things worth knowing before you try this:

  • Flexible ink matters. The roll attachment requires flexible ink because the printed material bends as it feeds and as you apply it.
  • Loading was straightforward. The attachment slides into place, then you feed and align the canvas through its rollers.
  • Plan your prints as a batch. Laying out multiple inserts in one long run is where the extra length becomes useful for production.

And why canvas? We didn't want our finished sign to feel like a sticker stuck onto a board. Canvas brings a subtle texture and a more traditional wall-art look, while the printer handles all the shading, patterns, and tiny details we wouldn't want to paint by hand.

From Printed Canvas to Finished Insert

Once the printing was done, the rest of the build was refreshingly simple:

  1. Cut apart the printed canvas into individual designs.
  2. Apply spray adhesive to a 1/8-inch MDF panel and position the canvas carefully.
  3. Smooth it down and trim the edges. We kept the insert uncomplicated instead of turning it into a separate woodworking project.
  4. Slide the finished panel into the frame. Done. When you're ready for a different season, slide it back out.

One note if you're making your own: check the current frame cut file and your final panel measurements before printing or cutting a whole batch. A test fit now saves plenty of frustration later.

We Didn't Stop at One Design. We Made 24.

Fall pumpkins? Check. Christmas gnomes? Of course. Snowmen, spring flowers, Easter, sunflowers, beachy summer designs, and more? Yep.

Having a full collection changes this from a cute project into something customers can enjoy throughout the year. Here are the seasonal insert designs we created for the collection:

The Part We Love Most: It's a Product Customers Can Come Back For

At a craft show, you don't have to carry a wall full of separate completed signs. You can display a frame and let customers browse the different inserts. They choose a frame, pick their first design, maybe grab a few more for upcoming holidays, and they're set.

For someone running a handmade business, that's a big deal. You're not asking the same customer to buy a whole new frame every season. They already have the frame. Now they just need another insert.

We see several ways to offer it: a finished frame with a chosen insert, an unfinished kit for DIYers, extra printed inserts sold individually or in mix-and-match bundles, and the laser-ready digital file for makers who want to cut their own.

The business takeaway: Don't just ask what a new machine can print. Ask what new product it helps you build, and whether customers will have a reason to come back for more.

Want to Make One? Here's Where to Start.

So, What Should We Make Next?

We proved we could print long canvas on a desktop UV printer. More importantly, we turned that capability into a product that made sense for our shop.

Now we're wondering what else the roll attachment could help us make. Long signs? Banners? Something completely ridiculous that just might sell?

Tell us your idea in the comments on the video. And before anybody says “print another sticker” ... we're going to need you to aim a little higher. 😄
